Exploring the airport in Gdańsk
See the airport from a different perspective! The tour is a unique opportunity to visit places where only employees have access to on a daily basis. Get to know the behind-the-scenes of the airport and discover its daily life up close.
Two passenger terminals
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport has two passenger terminals: Terminal T1 and Terminal T2.
Terminal T1 was opened in 1997. Today, the facility is used to a very limited extent.
T2 Passenger Terminal was built in 2012, among other things, to efficiently handle thousands of fans who came to Gdańsk for the European Football Championship, which was held in Poland and Ukraine. In 2014-2015, Terminal T2 was expanded for the first time. In 2022, we handed over a new part of the terminal, the so-called western pier, to passengers.
What can you see here?
In the modern and comfortable passenger terminal, you can see, among others,
- baggage check-in process,
- ticketing process,
- security screening process.
After entering the restricted area of the airport, you can see what it looks like:
- servicing passengers leaving the terminal,
- boarding passengers onto airplanes.
Airplane parking? We have seven of them!
Our airport has seven parking aprons – this is an area that can simultaneously accommodate up to 40 aircraft, ready for takeoff, landing, and passenger service. From the departure hall of the passenger terminals, all flight operations are clearly visible:
- aircraft taking off, landing, taxiing and parking,
- the work of the entire ground crew.
You can observe the airport runway equipped with navigation lights and the ILS radio navigation system equipment, which assists aircraft landing in conditions of limited visibility.
During the tours of the Gdansk Airport, guests visit the Operations Department with a large technical equipment base, including winter runway maintenance equipment. The Airport Fire Department is also very well equipped and professionally trained for various tasks. You can sometimes take a look inside the hangar.
