Luggage

Read the rules for hand, checked, and special baggage. Check what you can take on board, how to prepare your luggage and avoid surprises at the airport.

Basic information about luggage

Carry-on baggage, registered baggage, non-standard baggage

  • Registered baggage - is the one flown under carrier supervision, on the basis of a tag attached. This baggage is tagged and sent to aircraft hold during check-in.
  • Carry-on baggage - is not registered. It is taken on board and carried by passenger.
  • Non-standard baggage - Some carriers allow carriage of unusual items like musical instruments or sporting equipment.

Restrictions on registered baggage

Each airline determines restrictions on registered baggage in General Conditions of Carriage. Most often constraints refer to weight of baggage. Depending on airline, additional fees apply to whole or part of registered baggage. Moreover, additional charge applies to every extra kilogram of baggage over the weight allowed in conditions of carriage.

Restrictions on carry-on baggage

Restrictions on carry-on baggage apply to both its size and its weight. In this case, taking any extra kilogram of baggage over weight allowed in General Conditions of Carriage is not allowed even if a passenger is willing to pay extra fee. If size or weight of carry-on baggage exceeds the one allowed in conditions of carriage, it has to be tagged and checked in. It is treated as a registered baggage and all fees applying to registered baggage apply.

If you need more information

If you have any more questions regarding fees or conditions of carriage, you should contact a particular airline directly via call center or check certain conditions in General Conditions of Carriage accessible on airlines websites.
