We have closed the first quarter with almost 12% growth in the number of passengers served. The Company's financial performance looks good.
During the three months of 2025, there were 1,378,562 passengers at Gdansk Airport. This is 11.8% more than in the same period of 2024. The air operations amounted to 11,463, that is 4.8% more than a year ago.
The most popular destinations chosen by our passengers were consistently London (121,951) and Oslo (97,164), with Copenhagen in third place (90,519).
We are having strong growth in the non-scheduled air traffic, including charter. In the first quarter of 2025, we handled 49,777 passengers, as much as 26% more than in the comparable period of 2024.
“We have a 12 percent increase in the number of passengers in the scheduled traffic and a 26 percent increase in the charter traffic. This is a very good sign because it means that this year will again be a record year for our Airport. Just like last year, chartered flights are the engine that drives the air traffic. We fly on weekly and bi-weekly vacations, not only once a year, but also twice or even three times. We also fly before and after the holiday season, so that it is cheaper and so that we can afford to fly more,” said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport summarizing the results.
Wizz Air had the largest market share in the scheduled traffic in the first quarter of 2025. They made 47.89% of connections in Gdansk, followed by Ryanair (33.35%), with LOT Polish Airlines in third place (4.84%).
Within the three months of 2025, the Airport Company had generated 12,437 million zlotys in sales profit and 12,375 million zlotys in net profit.
"It looks like, as we were predicting, we will have about 50 million zlotys profit on sales at the end of the year. We need these financial results, as we will need to finance an investment program worth more than half a billion zlotys in a while," Tomasz Kloskowski added.
The aforementioned program envisages until 2028, among other things, the expansion of the landing area (aprons, taxiway and aircraft de-icing stands) and the aircraft maintenance base, the construction of a new office building as a part of the Airport City Gdansk project and an environmentally friendly carport.
As for cargo and mail handling at Gdansk Port, the results within the three months of this year improved by 4.7% compared to the first quarter of 2024. 2,722 tons of cargo had been handled.
