On Friday, 27 June 2025, a press conference was held in Gdansk, announcing the launch of a new flight connection.
“The introduction of our new route is an important step in further strengthening LOT Polish Airlines’ presence at regional airports in Poland. As early as the beginning of next year, we will connect two dynamic hubs – the gateway to Pomerania and the metropolis linking Europe and Asia – creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors and travellers. Istanbul is very popular among our passengers flying from Warsaw and Krakow, so I am confident that the expansion of our network with a convenient connection from Gdansk will be met with the same enthusiasm among the residents of northern Poland. I also hope that the new route will be a good start to long-term cooperation between LOT Polish Airlines and Gdansk Airport, benefiting both passengers and the entire region,” said Dorota Dmuchowska, Member of the Management Board for Operations at LOT Polish Airlines.
“The launch of a direct air connection between Gdansk and Istanbul marks a significant milestone for Gdansk Airport and is the result of many years of excellent cooperation with LOT Polish Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Istanbul is not only an attractive tourist destination, but also a strategic business, cultural and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia. This gives Gdansk a gateway to the East and direct access to the second largest airport in Europe and the seventh largest transfer hub in the world. The new LOT service, in cooperation with Turkish Airlines, gives our passengers access to the Turkish carrier’s extensive network. This significantly increases Gdansk’s appeal on the international transport and economic map. I would like to thank the many people of good will from Poland and Turkey who put a lot of work and effort into launching this route. This has been our dream for many years, and now it has come true,” said Tomasz Kloskowski, president of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.
Istanbul is a multicultural city with oriental flavours and an interesting landscape. The unique location of this agglomeration – the only city in the world to straddle two continents – means that Asian aesthetics coexist with European chic, creating a stunning whole.
