New Entry/Exit System (EES)

LOOK HERE VIDEOStarting from 24 November 2025, the Border Guard at the Gdańsk Airport will keep records of people travelling to Poland from locations other than the following group of 29 countries: 25 member states of the European Union (excluding Cyprus and Ireland) plus Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The EES will be used to keep records of citizens of third countries visiting European states covered by the said system for a short period (up to 90 days within a period of 180 days). Details of the travellers will be recorded in the EES regardless of the need for a short-term visa or as part of the visa-free regime. The system will also keep information about entry refusals. Ultimately, there will be no need to stamp passports. In case of persons who entered a country before the date of the launch of the EES system, they will be subject to a registration upon departure. The system will collect personal details found in travel documents, such as one’s name, surname, date of birth and citizenship. Biometric data will also be collected, including facial photographs and/or fingerprints. Moreover, the system will store dates and locations of each entry and departure in the 29 European countries using the EES. During the border check of persons already registered in the EES system, the Border Guard will also carry out an additional verification of one of biometric features by taking a facial photograph or collecting finger prints. The procedure will take place both at the arrival in and departure from the country.The EES will modernise border controls and gradually shorten the waiting time at border crossings. Implementation of the EES will allow for easy identification of citizens from outside the EU and the Schengen Area (excluding Cyprus and Ireland) who do not meet the conditions regarding entry and stay or who exceeded the stay period in the EU and the Schengen Area.Those 29 European countries that adopt the EES will gradually, for six months, implement the system in their internal borders. In the said period, collection of travellers’ data might initially take place only at some border crossings. Once the gradual implementation is complete, the EES system will function in full capacity at all external border crossings.European countries that will introduce the EES: Poland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Iceland, the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Germany, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia.

A new aircraft maintenance and repairs hangar to be built in Gdańsk

The agreement for the preparation and implementation of the investment was signed on 30 October 2025 in Gdańsk by: Tomasz Kloskowski, the President of Port Lotniczy Gdańsk, and Tadeusz Stachera and Dariusz Maruszczyk from the Management Board of LS Technics. According to the said agreement, LS Technics will be responsible for the project design while Port Lotniczy Gdańsk – for the implementation of the construction of a three-stand hangar intended for code C aircraft, along with the hangar apron. The new structure, about 150 meters wide and 60 meters long, will be developed in accordance with the latest standards and trends in ground handling infrastructure. The project involves creation of a spacious service area complemented by workshop, sanitary and office facilities.The new hangar will be built in two stages. The investment will replace the location of the current hangar no. 1. During the first stage, a new section of the facility will be added. Next, a second one will be constructed on the site of the existing building. Thanks to such a solution, it will be possible to create a modern hangar infrastructure and the construction will not disrupt ongoing operational activities. LS Technics will be able to continue inspections and repairs of aircraft also during the construction works.The implementation of the entire investment is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2028. The construction is financed by Port Lotniczy Gdańsk. Then, the hangar will be handed over to LS Technics for lease for a period of 20 years.

5.7 million passengers in the first three quarters of 2025 in Gdańsk

During the first three quarters of 2025, Gdansk Airport welcomed a total of 5,669,130 passengers. This is 10.6% more than in the same period of 2024. There were 46,878 flight operations, 7.2% more than a year ago. The data on aircraft occupancy is record-breaking with a rate of 83.8%. This is the highest number in the history of Gdansk Airport.“We are growing by 10% annually after three quarters, which means that we are actually achieving what we had planned. I predict that we will have served 7.3 million passengers in Gdansk throughout 2025. It is worth noting that charter traffic has stabilized and increased by less than 3%, and the main driver of our growth are the regular flights operated by Wizz Air and Ryanair. One consequence of this is Wizz Air's announcement a few days ago that they will add another, the ninth aircraft to their base in Gdansk. Moreover, we have the highest aircraft occupancy rate in the Company's history, which means that carriers will locate new connections and new aircraft in Gdansk," said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Airport.There are no changes in the order of the most popular destinations chosen by passengers in 2025. The largest number of people traveled on the Gdansk-London (409,465), Gdansk-Oslo (370,872), and Gdansk-Copenhagen (323,314) routes. In irregular traffic (charters, general aviation, military, other), there were 569,332 passengers in Gdansk from January to the end of September this year, 2.7% more than in the comparable period of 2024.In the period from January to September 2025, Gdansk Airport generated PLN 67.8 million in sales revenue (17% more than in January-September 2024) and PLN 56.7 million in net profit (22% more than in January-September 2024).Wizz Air had the largest share of the aviation market in Gdansk in the first three quarters of 2025 in terms of regular traffic. It operated 43.7% of flights, followed by Ryanair (37.6%). They were was followed by LOT Polish Airlines (4.6%), Lufthansa (4.3%) and KLM (3.4%).In terms of cargo and mail handling at Gdansk Airport, 8,053 tons of cargo were handled in the first nine months of 2025.

100% commercialisation of the Alpha office building at the Gdańsk Airport

As of January 2026, Dekpol Deweloper will have its central office in the first office building within Airport City Gdańsk. The company has concluded an agreement with the airport for the lease of more than 970 m² of state-of-the-art office space.

New playground at the airport

Gdansk Airport has launched a new feature for its youngest passengers and their guardians: a colourful, safe and inspiring playground. It is located in the departure area. With it, you can turn waiting for your flight into a fun experience and get excited even before you board the plane. The author of the project is Dutch designer Anne-Joke Wijsmuller, who created a unique space just for us, drawing inspiration from Gdansk Airport. The vinyl floor, covering an area of almost 80 square metres, features a beautiful printed airport landscape with a realistic depiction of the runway. It also features the logo of Gdansk Airport, subtly woven into the overall visual design. The floor is not only visually appealing, but also exceptionally durable and pleasant to the touch, making it ideal for children. At the playground, children will find play boards, interactive games and wooden structures that spark their imagination and support their motor development. There is an aeroplane, a tower with a slide, a “Play Tower,” a table for team games, touch screens and interactive games. The play area also includes a corner for watching cartoons. The contractor for the new playground is Dutch-based International Kids Concepts, with branches in many countries. In Poland, the company has been operating for 12 years in Kościerzyna. They have also built similar playgrounds at several other airports in Poland. They are also found in hotels and shopping centres. Come and join in the fun!
